23andme and MyHeritage results from Spain. Quite different right?

It really depends where in Spain you’re looking for. Luckily, there’s so many great records, the Spanish seemed obsessed with record taking and often times the have multiple generations included. The hard part is where to find this stuff and it can take some time to hear back and receive records. Here’s the general archivos but if you give me a location I can see what I can find (my Spanish ancestors were from all over Spain)

Yes! I know Pares but I haven't have so much luck with some of my branches. My family from Cuevas del Almanzora (Almería) and Lorca is a mistery as all the church records were burned during the Civil War. My grandma was 3 days asking around and couldn't find any document of her mother, she hadn't any identification papers so they made them up. My other branch goes to Xeve and Bora, in Pontevedra. These are very small villages and I must go to the church in person but I live far away. And then my grandpa's family lived in the Spanish territories in Morocco and apparently nothing is left there :/ How does discord work? It could be helpful!

Si! En MyHeritage mis matches tienen bastante más sentido que en 23andme, hay mucha gente de Europa! También me parece curioso que en MH me salga asia occidental y oriente medio, ¿podría ser eso sephardi o algo? Tengo que investigar más que está interesante, gracias por tu comentario!

Vale esto es mi análisis (que hay para hacer en el shutdown loll) Supongo que tienes más primos del medio oriente que se han probado con MH; también, 23andme “overfits” etnicidades, mientras, en mi opinión, MH muestra detalles un poco más antiguos. O sea, la gente hoy en día sólo pueden identificarse como español, por ejemplo - es imposible saber quienes eran los antepasados en los 1500s, entonces en 23andme sólo dice “español”. Pero en realidade la composición “del medio” español es más diversa, judío incluso. Es posible que tengas un poquito más sefardi que el “medio” español en el “sample”.
