will walking 10k steps a day really tone me?

i started trying to hit 10k steps daily along with a calorie deficit and I would love to know if it has actually helped any of you guys lose weight and tone your body.

the last time I tried to lose weight I ended up being skinny fat so I was wondering if walking will tone me.

I know weight lifting is better for toning but I would prefer something I enjoy so it will be sustainable for me.
