aspiring vet

Hello! I'm currently a Senior in highschool and I want to be a veterinary pathology or emergency vet in the future. honestly i have not had a good highschool career because my mental health was really bad (not trying to excuse it or anything but yeah)

when i was applying to colleges, I realized my top choices were probably Michigan state at the top, UIUC, and Ohio State. I most likely won't get into UIUC or Ohio state but i got into Michigan state already!

I can't go because my parents cant afford it and I'm not sure if ill be able to get any scholarships (i am applying) but my parents are saying I should just go to Illinois State.

they have an animal science major which i got in for and they literally have a farm on campus, but how much does pre vet schooling affect my chances of getting into vet school? i could also go to my local community college for two years and transfer to a good school or pre vet education. please be nice when giving advice!
