Great experience at VGH yesterday. They deserve all the credit.

The medical system is under a ton of pressure, and it's fairly obvious with the bad press, long waits and general displeasure over it. I suspect I tore my MCL at a Softball tournament on Sunday, and was not looking forward to an ER visit. Ended up at VGH, and I have to say, it was a very good experience, considering the circumstances. It took awhile, yes, but the nurses, doctors and all the staff were extremely nice, professional, and accommodating. Both doctors that looked at my knee had incredible bedside manners, and took their time. I never felt rushed, which was nice.

They referred me to an MRI at UBC in 2 weeks, and set me up with a sports doc out there to take it on. Even the XRay techs were cracking jokes with me. It was hilarious, cause the two of them were really pumped how good their photos turned out. Huge thank you to all the hard working docs/nurses/techs/housekeeping and volunteers that made it a tolerable day. All the smiles, laughs and brevity made what was an extremely stressful time for me (I play a lot of sports and was worried I'd be done for a long while) a joyful experience.
