One & Done?

I’m not sure if this is the correct place to post this, I apologize if it’s not.

Our LO is 2.5 & is a very smart, loving, handful of a child; as I imagine most toddlers are!

We were not planning on having kids but here we are. We’ve recently decided that 1 child was enough for us & my husband had a vasectomy. Our families are not on board & tell us he needs a sibling, he’ll resent us when he’s older, we’re denying him a “normal” childhood, etc.

I’m just wondering if any other parents have made the choice to just have 1 child & be done? Hoping for some validation that we aren’t screwing up our LO by denying them a sibling...

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your honest & personal experiences with being one & done or being an only child. I’m still reading through all the comments but I’m positive we made the right decision for our family & we’ll do our best to raise a well rounded only kiddo!
