Anyone Else Delude Themself?

I’m a solo gamer, largely out of necessity. I don’t have friends or family that game. Never have. My wife will try once in a while, but Quacks is as far as we’ve gotten. My kid is a tad too young for the good stuff, but I’m trying to raise her right.

And that’s fine. I enjoy solo. Mostly big fat campaign games.

But, I’ll listen to podcasts talk about the latest and greatest competitive games, chonky euros, tense negotiation games…and my mind wanders. “Maybe I can get my wife to play this one! She likes the theme. My kid might be able grasp this concept. And those friends of ours…this might be the way to get them into the hobby.” I’ll look at the price, see if it’s available at my FLGS; I might even go to the store and hold it.

Then reality kicks in and I remember that it’s just never going to happen.

I do this too often.
