Started SHIIR recently and boy oh biy did Bloober nail the atmosphere so far
Man from the fight for survival combat to the gorgeous environments, to the oppressive and sometimes almost liminal atmosphere, the unnerving sound design that could make you jump at a leaf fluttering in the air,, so much of it feels completely faithful to what it felt like to play the OG SH2 imo.
Tonally the actings a bit less off kilter and alien than the OG but it's still pretty great in its own right. It's a remake after all, not a remaster. Though ngl a lot of the changes they made felt kinda unnecessary and like changes for the sake of making a change unlike FF7R etc. The bits where you visit the OG spots also kinda confused me since I didn't remember half of them lol. Character models also look kinda wonky too ngl compared to its contemporaries.
But all in, BOY is it amazing so far. If they improve the character models and optimisation for a remake of I,III or IV, I might even preorder it if they keep up this level of quality to the end.
