What's with the Vitiligo obsession in liberal graphic design?

I swear to God it pops up everywhere in advertising, games, animation etc. and always with the most extreme possible cases too. I have yet to meet someone who actually has it, and I've met a lot of people with various medical conditions in my time.

It's just disproportionately represented in a very conspicuous, and slightly creepy way; it makes no sense. Don't take this as me saying people with vitiligo should be hidden, I'm no chud, I just find this to be a very bizarre discrepancy

EDIT: I never said I don't think people with vitiligo are real (???) I just said I think it's far rarer than media would have one believe. Also I live in Manchester, the second most diverse city in England so no I'm not some country bumpkin lmao
