You & Idol Precure Episode 1 Discussion

The season starts with the lead Cure meeting one of the fairy companions Momotaro style (birthed from a peach), this is going to be fun.

Uta understandably freaks out and runs home to her family restaurant but Purirun falls asleep on the way so her parents and little sister think it's a doll

Purirun wakes up after hearing Uta sing and recruits her into saving their (do we know their gender come to think of it?) homeland. Uta turns them down but then decides to help them look for what she thinks is an idol named "Precure" (and at first thinks a fat man with a similar name is what Puri's looking for)

Meanwhile our new villain trio Cutty, Zukuri, and their leader Chokkirīnu meet up at a bar (voiced by Hiroki Yamada, Setsuji Satou and Sayuri Yahagi) and the former is sent out to gather KiraKira

He turns a manga artist named Ema into a monster called a Makkuranda. Uta tries to stop it and ends up awakening her powers. She transforms, has an old fashioned freak out about it, and fights off the monster (the stage segments are apparently used for the finishers).

If I interpreted the preview correctly it seems the Cures will be known by the public but their secret identities won't (so far anyway)

Good premiere, I'll have to see more of the villains to get a better feel of them but Uta and Purirun seem fun (good OP and ED too)
