There are always people trying to find the restaurant that serves the best Nihari, biryani, paya, sajji, haleem etc. But is there a such a thing as a restaurant that servers the best daal?

Or no one is going to put that much effort into making the best daal? Kind of like oatmeal, or omellete. Make at home and enjoy. Restaurant isn't going to put effort into it.

I had had really good daal at a truck stop in Saudi. Maybe it was just the new ingredients, but that was really interesting flavors. It was called Kerala style daal, since the restaurant served Kerala food. It was slightly sweet, but also spicy and had a coconuty flavor. The heeng burps that followed were not so good though.

Supposedly Zardari's fav food is daal chawal. Always wonder if it is just regular yellow daal with a few masalas, or is that some super special secret family recipe passed down from their family chef's ancestors.
