Is this expected treatment timeline? Semi-rant
Not sure if this is the right subreddit but if it is:
I am so frustrated with the standard of treatment I have received in the last couple od days. After 6 hours in an A&E (discharged home, told I am fine), then 2 hrs in an UTC in a different hospital followed by 5 hours in a waiting room to see a specialist - I was finally admitted overnight. I was so happy to finally get help. I have a kidney infection, and antibiotic treatment began immediately. I was given a dose in the evening, and then another at 5 am the next day.
Then, a different doctor started his shift, and told me I'll go home soon with prescription antibiotics. A couple hours later, around 1 pm, a nurse told me I will absolutely not be going home as my infection markers went from 83 to c. 250 in a space of a few hours.
Around 3 pm I started questioning when will I receive any treatment beside painkillers (for which I have to beg every time too). I was told the doctor has already removed my prescriptions from the system as I was meant to go home but it will be represcribed. After pestering different nurses on and off for about 7 hours (all of them have been brilliant and really tried to get things arranged for me) I was told that finally another doctor prescribed me antibiotics. So, I spent 15hrs in a hospital room (5 am - 10pm), receiving no treatment whatsoever. Twiddling my thumbs basically while having a severe infection. God knows what my markers are now...
Should I contact PALS about it or is it just kinda how it is/expected speed of service for the NHS?
