Car shipping from south island to north

Howdy people just curious if anyone in here has had a car shipped from the south island to the north island if so who did you use and how much did it cost? For context I was told by insurance company that getting vehicle shipped would cost between $500 to $700 but the 5 places I have looked at so far have all been over $1500. This is my first time doing such a thing and any help would be appreciated
