MM effects on the body

My father who was recently diagnosed with MM at 54 years of age got a call from his doctor saying his Calcium levels are normal, and his kidneys are unaffected. He just has slight Anemia were told. We are taking this as a very positive sign, is it as positive as we think it is for his prognosis?
