Advice on getting a millwright apprenticeship

Hi everyone! I’m located in Ontario I have an advanced diploma in mechanical engineering technology and I’m having a hard time getting accepted into an apprenticeship. I’ve applied to a couple millwright apprenticeships and I’ve been rejected every time. These are some of my skills: Mig welding, some experience with tig and stick, I have working knowledge about pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC and CNC. I also have a lathe so I’ve been practicing machining and trying to make parts with in tolerances. I don’t have a lot of maintenance experience, mainly regular car maintenance, spring replacement, and lift kit installation. I would like some advice as to what skills I should be trying to improve and what would make me stand out. Thanks!
