Mac Mini M4 basic high temperature
Hi,
Sold my M1 mini, and got the M4 basic today, with 512GB SSD.
Used it for 6 hours, and so far this is my experience:
The good - performance uplift from M1 in Adobe and gaming is insane, totally silent in all workloads, video and photo, tiny foot print, looks awesome
The bad - bluetooth peripherals are not reliable, they get disconnected often, both keyboard and mouse. Akko keyboard, and Asus mouse.
The ugly - i am not happy with the temperatures. Compared to M1 mini and M1 air, this is too hot for my liking.
Adobe Premier Pro, Illustrator and Lightroom, up to 85 C
Cinebench up to 90 C
World of Warcraft 103 C, and that is my biggest concern, since i play WoW 95% of the time. M1 was no were near that temperatures, and I am not sure if its wise to play WoW for longer periods of time at that temp
I play at 4K@120Hz, with no upscaling and FPS is phenomenal in WoW. I get around 70 fps in Dornogal, at #6 in game graphic setting, no AA.
I use TG Pro, and i can control the fan, but if i want the temps to be below 95 C in wow, then it spins at 3000+ rpm and that is jet engine noise, so its a no go.
Diablo 3 up to 85 C
This 2 games are only ones i had chance to test today.
I think this is to high temps, but then again i dont know if its Mini problem, or WoW problem
Anyone else got some experience with gaming at 4K with Mini basic?
SOLUTION: Suggestion from the reply below was to cap FPS. So I did, and the temperature in WoW never goes above 75 C.
