What are your binge triggers and how do you handle them?

Hey all,

Quick Stats: 36F 5`3 SW: 187 lbs, CW: 178 lbs, GW: 155 lbs

My husband and I were on the New Years bandwagon for maintaining a 16:8 Intermittent Fasting schedule. I've been keeping my calories at around 1300-1500 a day for a good calorie deficit. My husband had to leave out of a town a few weekends ago for about 4 days and it was like a switch flipped in my brain that I had to stuff myself with massive amounts of food for the duration of the 4 days. I'm talking 20 chicken nuggets, 2 hot pockets, a bowl of shin ramen with an egg and cheese on it, 4 oz of fudge........all for dinner.

I lost 2 weeks of progress from one awful 4-day binge. Coming out of that weekend, I realized I have a binging problem, but more like I'm an opportunistic binger. I wasn't eating because I was hungry or because the food was necessarily tasty. I was eating because it's fun to eat while I binge a bunch of Netflix and there are no witnesses to see me in that state. One binging habit is feeding another binging habit coincidentally.

My birthday is coming up. I had originally planned to have a massive cheat meal dorito nachos and a bunch of other treats that I normally don't eat, but I realize my concept of cheat meals may be encouraging an unhealthy relationship with food. Instead, we will settle for a couple of filet mignon steaks, some grilled shrimp and some veggies; a decadent meal that is not going to blow up my calories over the weekend. I am learning to control the urges that lead to binging by a) avoiding TV marathons if no one is around, and b) avoiding "massive cheat meals" and instead learning to fit a rewarding meal into my weekly calorie goals.

If you have a binging issue, what are some ways you deal with your triggers to control the urge?
