We want change but also don't want change?

People for sure are fed up with the atmosphere of rampant corruption and lawlessness created by the TMC. Nobody likes Mamata and her gang of feudal savages who have over the course of 15 years continued to wreck the intellectual and enterprising capital of the sate. The entirety of the Bengali society is itching for change yet when you ask who do they wish to vote in 2026 there's no definitive answer.

Apparently the BJP is too communal and North-Indian centric who don't respect Bangla Culture enough. They don't have leaders who resonate with local populace and are filled with TMC turncoats.

CPIM cannot be a viable alternative because the ghosts of electoral violence, cut money, extortion rackets and rabid anti-industrialization have left deep scars on Bengali society. They are the ones who set this horrifying and bloody culture of post poll bloodbath which is whole heartedly continued by TMC. Also they have a fractured cadre and no mass leaders to help them win anything.

People talk about how tough it is to vote out TMC because of the undivided support of the 30% Muslim votebank coupled with illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingyas. A important factor for 15 years of their uninterrupted regime which has only resulted in further minority appeasement and rise in Islamic fundamentalism. Yet when the BJP challenges this dangerous game of identity politics they are branded as "hatemongers" and "communal".

BJP is apparently on a mission of "Hindification" of the state yet members of this sub keep whinging and moaning over organized gangs of Bihari migrants emboldened by TMC bullying local Bengalis. Centrists here love calling BJP "TMC in an orange disguise" yet when asked to vote for young dynamic leaders in CPIM who were the first to fight tooth and nail for Abhaya's rights is a regressive step back for Bengali politics.

We need to realize that we have 2 years on our hands to make a trade off. A choice between revitalizing CPIM in the state to serve as a good opposition to TMC or even voting them back to power in subsequent terms. Or to go full Bhagwa and give BJP a chance to exhibit what they have in plan for West Bengal's future. As someone who is going to be a first time voter in 2026, I am gravitating towards the latter.

All other solutions of transforming ourselves into a swing state which keeps changing parties every 5 years or forming a pro- Bengali, pro-industrialization party are distant dreams. Demography doesn't favour us to be a swing state and there is currently no leader who carries the mass appeal required to form a new party all by itself.
