Stuck Waiting on a Job Offer After Positive Feedback—What Should I Do?

Hey everyone, I’m in a bit of a dilemma with a job offer situation for a project management role, and I could use some outside perspective. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s happened so far:

I was referred for a project management position by a friend, even though the company didn’t have an open requisition at the time. They seemed interested enough to interview me three times over a couple of weeks.

I got positive feedback from the interviewers, including the CIO, who apparently wanted to move forward with me over other candidates.

Through some insider info from my friend who recommended me, I found out that, pending a final meeting with the team, they were planning to extend me an offer. That meeting was supposed to happen on Monday, but I’m not sure if it actually took place.

The recruiter told me that I’d get an update "early next week," but now it’s been almost two weeks since that promise with no concrete response.

I did follow up, and they said they’re still waiting on a few decision-makers who were out of the office, but the mention of "next steps" sounded promising.

Fast forward to today: I’m still waiting for a clear answer, and each passing day feels like they’re dragging it out even more.

I’m mentally exhausted from this waiting game, and I’m starting to wonder if I should push harder for an update or give them more time. I’m also afraid of overplaying my hand by bei g too aggressive. What would you do in this situation? Is the delay a red flag, or am I just overthinking it?

TL;DR: I’ve been waiting for almost two weeks for a project management job offer update after great feedback and multiple interviews, plus insider info that an offer was pending. Recruiter said they’re waiting on decision-makers, but the delay is getting to me. Should I push harder or continue to wait it out?
