How to create settings for pendants?

I am a polymer clay artist and I’m interested in creating pendants that are set in metal (see photo below for reference, not my art btw). I’m having a tough time finding resources on how to do this. I also don’t have the vocabulary to know what to search for as I’m new to this area. I would appreciate any advice or resources!
