Is this really what you want?

I see a lot of comments on this sub saying they desperately want a 1.43:1 home release of several movies, but unless you have a very tall screen at home and are sitting very close, you won't really benefit from the taller AR. To most people on 16:9 screens, the movie would look like a 4:3 movie, which today that AR is used in modern films to call back to an older time period (e.g. Grand Budapest Hotel). A 4:3 image just doesn't make sense if you're telling a modern day (or far flung future) story. On top of that, films which are released at both 1.43:1 and scope ultimately frame each shot for scope since that is what the majority of viewers will watch, and so really the director's vision lives in the wider AR, 1.43:1. What I'm really getting at is that 1.43:1 is only intended for IMAX screens, which I very much adore. However, when you put that 1.43:1 image on a 16:9 screen at home, you're really just making the director's vision appear smaller since it's getting pillar boxed. I really want to know from the people who are requesting a 1.43:1 home release, do you have home theater screens that are 8 feet tall?
