Iphone 16, I'm a bit disappointed
Hello,
So recently, I decided to change my phone. I had a 14 Pro, and I was seriously considering switching back to Android.
I was hesitating between the Pixel 9 Pro XL and the S25 Ultra.
I also have an Apple Watch Ultra 2 Black and AirPods Pro 2. I think you see where this is going.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is a very, very, very good watch, and I have only good things to say about it. It literally saved my life. Yes, it detected that I had sleep apnea (over 37 per hour, and now, thanks to the thing that covers my teeth at night, I have between 2 and 5 per hour—basically, it cured me).
Then the AirPods Pro 2. Same thing, it is crazy how good they are, and this comes from someone who has very expensive headphones and equipment at home.
And for those reasons, I went from an iPhone 14 Pro to an iPhone 16 Pro Max.
I finally understand people who say that Apple is trapping you in their ecosystem. It is 100% true.
Nobody comes close to the Apple Watch Ultra 2 (I'm only talking about brands that do phones + watches + earbuds).
For the AirPods Pro 2, lately, it's a bit closer—the only ones that really come close are the Sony and Bose ones.
Anyway, I was like, yeah, I'm gonna get the 16 Pro Max, for sure Apple fixed everything on this one.
Do I have something positive to say about it, though? Yeah, the big screen is pretty good. I will probably never go back to a 6" screen anymore. Having a big screen makes the experience much more enjoyable.
The rest? How can a phone this expensive be this "meh"? I don't understand, for real.
A colleague at work, with whom I talk a lot about technology, said he was going to get the S25 Ultra. Since he didn't want to switch immediately (from an iPhone 8, lol, since he never had any Android experience), he said that I could test it for a few days.
The S25 Ultra and especially the latest version of Android are like... night and day.
iOS feels like Windows 95, and the latest version of Android feels like Windows 7 in terms of difference.
The battery? I'm pretty disappointed. It's been two weeks—I thought the "calibration" that everybody talks about happens after a week or so, no? My colleague told me, and I saw it—he thought it was an Android bug because the battery wouldn't go down for HOURS of light use.
I still don't understand how some of these bugs are still present after so many years on iOS.
How come the keyboard is so bad? Why am I still having the sound bug that the iOS keyboard makes? Like, randomly, the sound of typing will bug out and make a very loud noise.
How come the Android keyboard is so much better?
How come Apple, a multi-trillion company, hasn't found something similar to "Android gestures"? Why is it so clunky? Especially on a 6.9" screen, why can't I go back in the same manner anywhere I am?
How come I still don't have Apple Intelligence in my country?
Why is Siri still this garbage to this day?
Why are there so many bugs and app crashes?
Why is customization—the most basic of basics—still not present to this day? Like, I don't know, resizing the apps so I can use the whole 6.9" screen?
Why are notifications this garbage? I haven't received Teams notifications for a few days now. I still miss notifications on a daily basis. You could say I'm just bad, but isn't the point of Apple and IOS to make my life easier? On Android (I had the Pixel 5a), I never ever missed any notification.
I'm very salty. I swear this is the last time in my life that I get an iPhone.
My Apple Watch? Too bad.
AirPods Pro? Too bad.
Having those pros isn't worth it for me anymore.
Another thing on the S25 ultra that is crazy good, to search for stuff on your phone, you juste have to do a description of it.
For exemple, you can write on the search bar "the setting that allows me to change the AOD", it will directly put you into the menu and everything.
Apple, and having an Iphone, it's not the best anymore (was it ever though?), it's just to say and how to people that you have an iphone. That's it.
A social thing. "look look I have an iphone, it looks good and I probably spend a lot on it".
That's it.
