Convince me that the "Artie Years" are anywhere near as naturally funny as the mid-to-late "Jackie Years"
What does the (seeming) majority of this sub find so funny about the Artie years? I suspect that it's because the demo of this sub leans heavily towards the blue collar meathead style or is it mostly because of the age range? I started listening at the tail end of Jackie era so I actually have more nostalgia with the Artie years. But I have gone back and listened to most shows since 1992.
Artie was occasionally funny at best and there was no natural chemistry with the (much older) core group. His genuine reactions to weird characters or sound drops were always great but his one-liners were usually lame and he tried so hard to be "macho cool guy junkie".
I'll be fair and say that it wasn't actually Jackie who was funny but how he interacted with the staff or how they goofed on him. Artie himself had funny moments but it just wasn't ORGANIC, BOSS.
