Cats Ruined the Garden
My mom and I have abandoned the small outdoor garden we had after my dad passed away out of grief. But we want to get it back to working order. The issue is that the stray cats in our area have been using it as a cat litter. We do try our best to deter them with orange peels and the enzyme cleaners that claim to not affect plant life, but in the cold months we don’t go out there much. My mom insists we can save the soil by decontaminating it but has no idea how. I say we should get rid of all the soil, deep clean the area, install raised beds, and then replace the soil.
Does anyone have any tips on what decontaminating the soil would entail? Or is replacing it just a better option. We had cucumbers , tomatoes, onions, and strawberries at one point.
I should clarify that we are in the TriState area. The garden runs the side of the house (which is about 2ft deep and about 14 ft long).
