PC Sim-Racer like gt7 that wont break the bank?

I've been looking for a good sim-racer for a while now on pc ala gran-turismo but all of the alternatives seem to break the bank-assetto corsa comes/i-racing to mind where you need to spend a substancial premium to be able to play reliably. Much less something with a progression system.
I would prefer if it wasn't open wheel racing or nascar- GT racing/closed wheel/anything else goes.
