What's going on with healers recently?
I’ve been playing FFXIV daily for the past 1-2 months, and I’ve noticed a growing number of healers who seem unfamiliar with basic mechanics, even at higher levels. Here are just a few examples:
- A level 90 Sage who didn’t know what "Kardia" is.
- A White Mage in a level 40+ dungeon who refused to equip their job stone, even after being asked.
- Another Sage in a level 40+ dungeon who didn’t understand shielding mechanics and said they didn’t have any shields.
- Healers focusing on DPS instead of healing, leading to party wipes.
I even considered making a bingo card to stay sane—but that might be a bit too toxic. Still, it’s been frustrating, especially since the game should be giving me dopamine, not making me stressed.
I understand that new players (sprouts) are still learning, and I always try to give advice or reminders. But when they refuse to listen or adapt, it’s really discouraging.
Has anyone else noticed this trend? What can we do to improve the situation? I’ve heard mentions of a "healer strike," which I thought was a meme at first, but now I’m starting to wonder if there’s more to it.
