Hikawa and other more poppish enka artists, are they bad?

I really love Hikawa though I dont generally like male enka artists... Hibari and Mikawa Kenichi (though I guess not REALLY enka) are what I love outside Hikawa. My best friend is really really into enka and always plays it and I enjoy watching it on Japanese tv shows/kouhaku too but I really dont like listening to other male artists than Hikawa and Mikawa... if you count Mikawa as enka or male... for that matter...

Well what I wanted to have discussion is what do you think of the younger and more poppish enka artists like Hikawa? Or the more manly enka? I dont really see many people outside me posting him here for one. Any females like Hikawa? I would really like to find some more enka to listen to.
