Bunion surgery advice

I work at Walmart have been for 8 years and I believe that is the reason for my moderate to severe bunion. Anyway I am considering surgery because it is pretty bad and all of my coworkers have encouraged me to be brave and face my fears of getting an appointment with a foot doctor to get the surgery because I know the doc will say “you need surgery ASAP” anyway I was just wanting some advice and how to ease my nerves as I have never had any type of surgery done before and it’s a little scary to me but my bunion getting worse is even scarier! So any advice and questions I should ask on my appointment are all welcome!
