Looking to start birth control

Hi! I am looking to get on birth control, have been sexually active recently as well as in the past with different partners, and also have absolutely brutal periods. I have been doing my research, and was thinking the combined pill would be best for me. I would love to prevent pregnancy as well as regulate my periods. (I have not been outwardly diagnosed with endometriosis, however I have been told it is highly likely I do have it.) I would also like to keep as many of my periods as possible, and do not want to be on the pill that causes about four (I forgot the name.)

What I came here to ask about is if the combined pill is actually okay for people my age and is effective? I am highly against the implant as well as the IUD, and I just don’t see the patch as effective for me. I don’t know how widespread it is, but the birth control shot would also be totally outruled since it is highly inconvenient for me to get a shot every 3 months.

I am slightly worried about the side effects of the combined pill as well, as I am already high in weight and have extreme difficulty losing the weight, I have to work late nights about three times a week on top of going to school, and just wanted some insights about the pill or if I should be more open to other methods. Experience/all advice is appreciated.

Edit: When I am sexually active I always use a condom and track my ovulation as well as when my period may start to ensure less pregnancy risk
