Planning a trip to big bear

Looking for tips. Planning a first time trip to big bear.

Is it a scary winding cliffs drive to all areas of big bear? Trying to avoid the scary dangerous drive areas with lots of traffic. Any tips? Is there places to just stay in big bear village do snow play and avoid driving and any cliffs?
