Is this Elon stuff a Roger Stone/Vladislav Surkov style diversion?
The way Elon has set himself up as a sieg heiling lunatic trying to hack into the treasury's computers in the first couple weeks of power is really terrifying.
I'm beginning to wonder if it might be TOO terrifying.
Is it possible that he is setting himself up as a "heel" so that Trump can dispose of him in a sort of show trial? Then Trump can continue his "milder" regime of persecuting immigrants and LGBTQ people while non-marginalized people breathe a sigh of relief that it could have been worse.... and Elon gets to keep his money and control over social media which continues to push people right.
I thought of this because of Adam Curtis's work in explaining how Putin has kept power through confusion for all these decades in the documentary "Hypernormalization."
