Accountable Leadership and Managment
I have long argued that the failure of an employee to perform to expectation is either:
Poor selection at the recruiting stage
Poor leadership,
Poor motivation,
Poor management
Poor training
Or a combination of the above.
In every case it’s the supervisors failure as much as the empployee.
The Captain of the Titanic didn’t say “I wasn’t supposed to be looking for Icebergs, let me get in the lifeboat”. He went down in the wheelhouse.
For every “sorry we have to let you go” there should also be “and you go as well, you were paid to recruit, lead, train and motivate them and you F ed up”.
This is called “accountable Managment and leadership”. It hardly exists these days.
