leave or stay?
help settle a debate. we are at Sunday drinks and our mutual (non Reddit friend) accepted a job and has now done 2 full weeks and absolutely hates it. they have literally sat in their office and done nothing. There is a restructure and multiple redundancies (some genuine and some not) going on.
our friend wants to throw it in. no one has checked in on them, and each time they have tried to chat with the GM they get a smile and say it’ll get better … the first and only meeting they were invited to was the meeting telling the team they might be made redundant. from 1st impression they appear to be very disorganised and contracts very behind.
some of us say to stay as the money is astronomically way up there and it’s a new role with some opportunities to work in a rewarding space.
some of us say accept it is a mistake and gracefully exit saying the job wasn’t as presented and etc etc there is far to much going on with restructure.
the wage is double than previous. the company is breaking even profit wise-just. they are supported by the government so don’t anticipate it collapsing anytime soon although if they lose a contract it could be problematic.
The GM is a dic! they’re very racist (and the company works in the space where they’re the people the co is helping ). They’ve also openly left all the letters for termination on the printer for all and sundry to read. they also turned up to work intoxicated.
hope this makes sense, I’ve had a few shandy’s 🍻
