Starting Celexa/Citalopram, Dr recommended taking dose every other day
TL;DR:
I just was wondering if anyone started their medication - celexa or any other ssri - by taking their dose every other day for two weeks before taking it every day? What was your experience like if so?
My history on SSRIs & my specific concerns:
I was on lexparo from 2016-2018 and then I tried to go on it again in 2022 but two weeks in I suffered from panic attacks, increased anxiety (it felt 4x worse and was unbearable), head fog & derealization. I stopped taking it after speaking with my dr and unfortunately have since learned that this can be common ("it gets worse before it gets better") and that you should just push through for another few weeks. Since my anxiety felt better in comparison to how bad it was two weeks in with lexapro, I decided I wouldn't take any medication. Unfortunately, my anxiety since then has slowly climbed back up to an unbearable level so I asked to start a new medication. Dr at first recommended 10mg (celexa) every day but I called back and expressed my concerns due to my experience with lexapro and he said to just take it every other day. But now I'm hesitant on whether 10mg every other day would even make a difference or is it just prolonging the inevitable side effects?
