dominion budget billing not consistent or matching reported cost
Edit/Update - The variance is the deferred fuel cost charge, which can vary in billed amount monthly. When I was on the phone with dominion csr she and I looked over the months and the DFCC was the amount over the $84 (somehow I had missed that when I looked at the bills previously). This is noted in the FAQ for budget billing as something that can't be baked into the budget billing but is billed separately. So that explains the overages month to month. HOWEVER the amount was never clear. When I signed up for budget billing (BB) the DFCC was listed as 42 cents. When I spoke with the CSR today she dropped the number 42 cents. In the FAQ it also uses the number 42 cents. Despite 42 being the answer to life it is not the answer for dominion and causes confusion as my DFCC is certainly dollars more than 42 cents. Dominion needs to explain this better and make it clear. A CSR may explain the DFCC when someone enrolls in BB via phone but if you use an app you're given the DFCC of 42 cents apparently which is a surprise when the amount is dollars more on the actual bill.
Initial post/question: I signed up for Dominion budget billing back in december so I'd have a predictable amount on the monthly bill. I still conserve usage but like knowing my payment each month so no surprises. My monthly amount was supposed to be $84 (actually $84.42 after some additional rider/fee/tax). December's bill was $86.18, which I expected to be off because of recently setting up budget billing. January was $87.66 and February's is $86.97. When I called in January to ask why the budget billing amount wasn't correct they said something about the system still not updated from when I enacted the plan. Sure...whatever, I'll watch for February's. Now that I received this month's bill the amount is still off.
When I had budget billing in another locality the rate displayed was the rate I received, period. No month to month variance, no matter how small. I am about to call now and inquire but wondered what others in the state/Dominion service area have experienced. It doesn't make sense and while I am not trying to avoid paying what I owe the amount I am being billed is more than what the system says I should be paying.
