Confused between Chartered Accountancy and SSC CGL

I have two main qstns: 1. How much is the average earning after clearing SSC CGL?

  1. How often do we get home posting?

Some backstory: I'm a CA Final student. So I know calculations only on a calculator. And the last time I studied for Maths was for CPT which was about 8 years ago and I never had to study for that again. So I'm weak in mental Maths and I hate Maths from my childhood.

I'm Bcom graduate and I have given 5 attempts now in CA Final. I have good internship experience and well versed in GST law,so my first job as a fresher paid me 30k which I was doing along with studying. I chose to work in a CA firm rather than a company, so that I could get exam leaves. While dealing with many GST/IT Officers I was shocked to see how they didn't even have basic knowledge about GST/IT law and how laid back they were, but confident enough to demand bribe for every small thing. They used to come late to office and go home on time. Adding to it were the perks and holidays they used to get. And sorry to say, most of them would ask me dumb doubts. On the other hand, I was impressed with the intelligence and knowledge of Assistant Commissioner, Joint Commissioners etc coz most probably they must be UPSC cleared. These things gave me an impression about how easy would have been for the junior level staff. (I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but I'm narrating what I actually witnessed myself even in a Tier 1 city like Mumbai)

After a while I was laid off and I was cited cost cutting. It was a sudden shock to me but I gathered myself, chose to remain unemployed for a while and started preparing for the next CA Final attempt. After my exams got over, one friend recommended to me about SSC CGL exam saying there would be job security and it isn't as difficult as UPSC so u should give it a try.

But im skeptical about SSC CGL since I am weak in Maths. Plus im worried about the salary and I also want home posting and no transfers.

If I still manage to become a CA in 5-6 attempts, I'm sure that I can work in corporates with starting salary of 50-60k pm Minimum. If I work hard enough, I think I can also get 80-90k also as a fresher in a Big4. However I know that there would be little work life balance.

So I'm confused about what to do now.
