Veteran with Finance degree wants to be a Trucker

Hello!

I am a 44 year old veteran living in Pittsburgh PA. I HATE working in finance and have the chance to get into a CDL school free. Its a chance to go to a trade school for free trucking seems like the best. I have been reading this sub for a few weeks and have learned a lot; some that makes me want to pursue it and some that makes me want to run far away from trucking. Im a smart fellow that works hard and just wants to give his kids and wife a better life than ive been able to so far.

Questions:

Is the "do your 1st year, than work local" still a feasible career arc?

I have a bad back. Is this a stupid thing to try?

How much will my Veteran-ness help in my trucking career?

Will my degree help in ANY way get a management job after a while?

How difficult is getting the X designation and driving fuels for a newbie?

What are my chances of staying away from the dreaded internal camera companies in my first few years?(that shit sounds draconian)

I take Adderall for ADHD, can I continue as a trucker?

Any advice whether positive or negative is appreciated
