An open letter to Callum Adams

Callum,

Despite my recent post urging members of the Corner to offer suggestions for content rather than complaining, I find myself wanting to get on my soapbox and share a few thoughts of my own.

I’ve been a member of the Corner for several years now, first discovering your content back in the BGMedia days, and I’ve been a loyal follower ever since. In that time, you’ve created some truly quality content, and your streams and videos have provided countless moments of joy and escapism for many of us. Your work has meant a lot.

However, the 2023/24 era of Callum’s Corner feels very different. The upload schedule has slackened, the content lacks the energy and creativity it once had, and the streams are increasingly repetitive and uninspired. I understand that, given the challenges you’ve faced with doxxing and the like, some adjustments to your content are inevitable. Your likely response to this criticism would be something along the lines of, “If you don’t like it, watch someone else.”

But here’s the thing—many of us who have followed you for years don’t want to go elsewhere. We remember the Corner at its peak, and we continue to hope it can return to that level of energy and creativity.

Lately, there’s a palpable frustration among the community. Members feel ignored when it comes to offering content suggestions, and there’s a sense of apathy surrounding the streams and videos. Yes, you’ve earned the right to take holidays and create content that you enjoy, but at times it feels like you’re simply going through the motions. If you’re not invested in the content, why should we be?

I’m not here to dictate how you run the Corner, but I do believe you’re at a critical crossroads. Without its members, the Corner wouldn’t exist, and without a renewed commitment to quality content, I fear you’ll see a steady decline in viewership, potentially leading to the end of the Corner as we know it.

This is not what I—or, I’m sure, many others—want. We want to see the Corner thrive again, with regular uploads, fresh content, and interactive streams. There’s a wealth of ideas in the post I made recently, that the community would love to see explored. I strongly urge you to take a look at these and consider what the community is asking for.

Callum, we are all supporters of your content and the unique community you’ve built. Please don’t let this message fall on deaf ears.
