How reliable are the sleeper trains? Hat Yai -> Bangkok in summer

I have a flight from Bangkok at 17h30, how safe am I (reliability wise) to take the sleeper train from Hat Yai to Bangkok the night before? I don't want to get stranded in Hat Yai or elsewhere and miss my flight. I could also fly to Bangkok but I prefer to take the train
