Bribing a middle school student with candy to behave. What are your thoughts on this?

We have a 6th grader that has had some behavior issues with other students in some of their classes. Verbal cues to change behavior do not help. Going to another room to “calm down for 10 minutes” also doesn’t help.

So a teacher decides to bribe the kid with candy if they behave in all of their classes. This is not in their IEP. This kid is now probably going to think “for the rest of the year, every day I do well this teacher is going to give me a pack of candy, right?”. How does this help the student so they don’t do the same thing on Monday or Tuesday? What are your thoughts on bribes?
