On SAVE deferment but found you can retro pay payments for PSLF. Better to wait right?

I just found out that you can retro pay under different plan other than SAVE to get PLSF credits. Given current administration uncertainties with Dept of education, it's better to wait until dust settles right? I know there's no certainty but wanted to ask to get a feel for what others are doing. Thanks!!
