How was Chancellor Palpatine able to distance himself from being seen as part of the corruption in the Galactic Republic?
I understand the dark side aspect of Anakin's fall to the Dark Side, but one thing I noticed was his constant distaste in political hypocrisy from not just the Jedi Order, but also the Galactic Republic.
However, something I observed was that his distaste of political corruption did not extend to Palpatine, the single most powerful person in the Galactic Republic at a time when the Galactic Republic had shifted towards increasing Authoritarianism culminating in the Empire. Yet he is still seen by many, including Anakin as a transparent and morally just figure in galactic politics.
How was it that Palpatine, despite being who he was in the galactic government, was able to escape alot of the general frustration that individuals had had with the political corruption and issues at the heart of the Galactic Republic and can anyone point to any certain pieces of media, be it Clone Wars episodes, comics, or novels in either Canon or Legends that discusses this?
