My bfs painting reels went viral on IG in India (we live in the US), now someone wants to buy his artwork as NFTs for aLOT of $$. Could it be a scam?

OP: My bf makes IG reels showing off his paintings. A month or so ago, of these reels went viral, with 75k views and 17k likes. Incase it matters, he has about 70 followers on IG. The reel went viral in India (we live in the US).
So today he got a message from someone asking to buy his paintings as NFT’s. Again, not that it matters, but this person has an Indian last name, which makes sense since his reel went viral in India.
After exchanging a few messages, the person said they’d like to buy them for “about 3 Ethereum each” (around $3800).
We obviously need some more information, and if the person we’re to say “just send me 1 Ethereum first” or whatever, it’s an obvious scam.
But my question is: thus far, does this raise any alarm bells? Has anyone seen anything similar to this scam-wise?
Mind you, I don’t doubt that someone would pay good $ for my bf’s artwork. I just see scams everyday, especially when it comes to crypto. If this turns out to be legit, I’m insanely happy for him.
