Unable to place AoE bug on PC client

Does anyone know what causes being unable to place AoE skills randomly at times? Like I either have to die or reload to be able to cast and its griefing me in important runs in Helheim and other content. Additionally any peeps know if the UI size can be edited through some registry or file?
