Everyday conversations to reconnect with teen

Hadn’t seen my stepdaughter (*Emily, now 13) for 15 months due to her mother withholding her.

Have been regularly seeing her with her dad on a fortnightly basis for the last 6 weeks. Emily asks for me to be there, which is awesome!

I’m struggling a bit though holding a conversation with her when her dad goes off to the toilet or getting food etc... It’s only for a few hours and I know teens are going to get bored. We do activities together but I’d love some pointers to get her engaging in more conversations.

We’ve chatted about music she loves, boys, friendships, hating on school and a few other subjects.
