So tired of rude people

So I just had this exchange with someone who contacted me on Facebook about my job search post in a nanny network group. This lady had the nerve to write me and tell me she’s interested and then reacts this way when I tell her my rate. I know I could have just let it go but I just couldn’t. Not today. I’m so damn tired of being treated this way. What it is about childcare workers that makes people feel like they can lowball us and make us feel bad about our rates? If you want someone with 20 years experience and excellent references then you need to be willing to pay for it. Rant over!
