Question regarding Season Pass

Maybe a dumb question.

For context i got an 8€ discount i can use on Season pass so it became a 3€ pass, better than with the VPN.

Here's come my question, ive heard that if you pay the pass on the game itself you dont earn milestones progress on the website like you did when you pay on the website.

Its that true?
