I underestimated the snow
A funny story of my mistake in this snowpocalypse: I did not go outside to the parking lot of my apartment complex AT ALL yesterday as I did not have to work. This morning I was getting ready for work (I work in healthcare but kind of non essential? Don’t want to elaborate as I’d like to stay anonymous on here) and imagined I’d have to scrape a little impacted ice off of my car and have it started with the heat on for a while. WRONG. SO WRONG. I walk outside in my big coat and tennis shoes and see the ungodly amount of snow. I turn around and go back to my apartment to think for a second and decide it’s just snow, and I can do this. I go back out and nearly fall multiple times on the way to my car. I remote start my car as there is no way I can open my door. I take my sorry excuse of a plastic snow scraper to my windshield.. nothing moves. The snow has a sheet of solid freaking ice over it. I inspect my tires.. ice all the way around. I text my boss the situation and they’re very understanding. After 30 minutes with frozen hands and on the verge of tears from both frustration and laughter, I decide to take the L and call out of work. I’m from a pretty southern state, I’ve never experienced this, and I greatly underestimated the situation. I have no idea how this is going to work tomorrow, either. Fingers crossed. Stay home guys.. you probably don’t have a choice. 😂
Edit: all the mean people will be happy to know I have taken many tips and gotten the majority of the ice and snow off of my car. I had to take a break because I’m not used to this cold! I learned I needed more layers for sure. Thanks to all that have been kind. It was just a funny story of a new transplant that’s never seen anything like this. 🙂
