Public washroom tips in Japan

Appreciate tips/guidance for finding public washrooms travelling in Japan. Will be in Tokyo, Kyoto and Kanawaza. Don't mind paying a small amount for something with no line up and clean. That's what we are used in Europe. In North Americawe usually look for a McDonalds lol.
