No conclusion to source of damp. Rant and opinions please.

I just needed a vent and some opinions. So I paid a surveyer (went with the higher priced one based on recommendations and ratings) and concluded the walls showed some levels of moisture. But rather than inform the possible causes recommended I get another survey done by a damp specialist. They concluded the walls were showing signs of little moisture but nothing to worry about.

Forward a few months I get patched on the wall. Had another inspection by damp specialist and asked him to quote me. He said it was rising damp but never got back to me. But doing some research it was likely not rising Damp.

So I paid again for a full on damp survey. He concludes water penetrating through brick work and the cavity needed cleaning of debris and brick work repointing.

So I get someone round for this and he said nothing to do with cavity as it would be empty. He reckons there isn't enough drainage around border and floor quite close to damp proof course bricks. So he's suggesting to remove a bit around the border and fill with soil/sand/stone.

I just gave up and told him to do it and going to hope that this might be the problem.

So far this has cost me almost 1.5K in surveys alone and yet to pay for the work and for replaster the internal walls.
