What are your unpopular/controversial opinions on how the series should be made?
I have a couple. You can downvote me, but discussion on that would be more interesting.
1) Rather than having ultra-faithful adaptation, I'd be more disappointed if the show added nothing new. No adaptation is ever 100% faithful, but what matter is in how it's done. I've read books in unholy amount of times, I know what happens, but I still wanna discover some new things and be interested in some perspectives or stories that are fresh. Not a whole plot change, but God I wish this show won't stick to just Harry's perspective. Show me Hermione's backstory, show me how Fudge loses trust in Dumbledore, Lucius Malfoy schemes, the Weasleys' arguments with Percy, more exploration of characters outside Gryffindor, the resistance movement at Hogwarts during Voldemort's reign, there's a lot new and meaningful to show here.
2) And that may be contrary to the first point, but a prequel about marauders is a bad idea and could be more controversial than the remake itself lol. I'm not even in that whole marauders fandom stuff, but I doubt it would be satisfactionary. I would have preferred if we just got some additional informations on all that happened there, but not by means of a whole prequel. Sometimes it's just good to have this open space for ideas rather than strict canon and that's good, at least for me.
And actually if we're talking prequels, one that would make more sense would be one about Voldemort. I think he's quite... one-dimensional in the books. His character, at least in my opinion, could be interestingly explored, and this is very important because he is the main antagonist.
3) I don't care if JKR has any relevance to the making of the series and actually I wouldn't even mind if she wasn't involved with it at all. Additional content made by JKR is just quite disappointing. The Cursed Child was awful and she still agreed on that, The Fantastic Beasts movie series are actually boring even though she wrote them themselves. Before all that I always got the feeling that she protects this series a lot, but now I don't really believe it.
